This stunning four-bedroom luxury holiday cottage with a games room and a hot tub is the perfect group getaway. Set in the charming village of Ravensworth close to the Yorkshire Dales, and located midway between Richmond and Barnard Castle, Shorthorn sits alongside Dexter and The Farmhouse which make up the five-star accommodation of Greenbank Barns.
The spacious open plan kitchen and dining room are the heart of this large luxury cottage. It features a stylish breakfast bar, informal dining table, and a comfy seating area. A fantastic feature is the large patio doors, just waiting to be thrown open in the summer months out onto the stunning south-facing garden.
The spacious modern kitchen is well equipped to cater for up to 8 people with everything you need and more on a self-catering holiday. If you prefer to stay in for a special occasion or just to relax, take a look at private dining with our partner chefs.
This impressive barn conversion offers a spacious ground floor games room with pool table, high-beamed ceilings and overhead windows throw around plenty of natural light. This is the perfect family-friendly holiday space. It includes a widescreen TV and comfy seating, perfect for groups and an ideal place for entertaining.
Glass doors open through from the chill-out games room to the snug. This sitting room has an elegant seating area, a further widescreen TV and cosy log-burning stove; the perfect spot to settle down with a glass of wine after a day exploring the Yorkshire Dales. The snug looks directly out onto gorgeous private gardens, with glass patio doors opening straight onto the outdoor space with breathtaking views of the hills beyond.
There are four luxury bedrooms, all with private bathrooms. Two ground floor bedrooms both have king-size zip-and-link beds. One is an en-suite bedroom with a shower, and the other has the spacious house bathroom with a shower. Upstairs, revel in the gorgeous French-style master bedroom and a king-size bed that you will not want to leave. The large en-suite bathroom has a bath and shower. The fourth bedroom upstairs also has en-suite facilities, and a king-size zip and link bed that can be set as twins or a double to suit your needs.
The gardens of this luxury holiday cottage with the hot tub are just as impressive as the inside. Greenbank Barns is set in several acres of Yorkshire countryside, and Shorthorn has a lovely private garden. Over the infinity wall, it drops down to a large paddock offering superb views of Holmedale valley.
A BBQ and outdoor furniture are provided for you to enjoy al fresco dining in the warmer months. The private hot tub is jacuzzi-style; enjoy the amazing views with a glass of bubbly whatever the weather on your group getaway.
There is free wi-fi throughout the holiday home and ample parking. The modern kitchen has a fridge freezer, dishwasher, wine cooler and is well-equipped for that home from home experience. Shorthorn includes high-quality bed linen, towels, bathrobes, and luxury toiletries. Included is a starter pack for the kitchen, fire and washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room. And of course, enjoy a locally sourced welcome hamper.
With ground floor accommodation and just one step down into the kitchen and living areas, this large cottage is well suited to guests with reduced mobility. Please note we can have up to two dogs at Shorthorn however the garden at this dog-friendly cottage isn't fully enclosed.
Shorthorn can be booked alongside Dexter and The Farmhouse at Greenbank Barns for groups of up to 28 people.
Shorthorn lies just off the A66 making it very accessible, though you wouldn’t tell once arrived with its views. A mile away is the pretty village of Ravensworth, known for Ravensworth Nurseries, the horticultural business, and the remains of the 14th century Grade I listed Ravensworth Castle near the village green. It also has a good village pub – The Bay Horse.
There are plenty of walks from Greenbank Barns and several good pubs with restaurants within a few miles. The local market towns are Richmond and Barnard Castle, with heritage sites to explore, weekly markets, and good cafes for a coffee after a spot of shopping. The Yorkshire Dales is just a short drive away; explore Malham Cove, Aysgarth Falls and pretty towns like Hawes and Middleham.
