A weekend at The Stables…

Stock up with everything you need for some alfresco dining with friends and family from the award-winning Campbells of Leyburn. Which is only a 5-minute drive from The Stables. Pick up meats for a BBQ outside or nibbles for enjoying around the dining table inside.

Wake up early and head to Middleham, to catch the racehorses training on Middleham Gallops. Take a stroll across the gallops and take in a breathtakingly beautiful part of  North Yorkshire, admiring the views of Middleham Castle, Leyburn Shawl and the surrounding dales. Work up an appetite and enjoy our favourite fish and chips from The Middleham Fish Bar. Put in an order and grab a pint from the pub next door – a great excuse!

For kids, (and big kids) head to The Forbidden Corner, an extraordinary four acre garden with a labyrinth of tunnels, follies and many other surprises nearby. After, The Saddle Room next door is a great spot for a bite to eat. A truly unique dining experience, with delicious food, handpicked wines from and a relaxing atmosphere.

With stylish interiors and sumptuous luxury bedding, a lie-in is an essential at The Stables, tear yourself out of the sheets before enjoying a morning coffee outside whilst planning today’s adventure.

Get your walking boots on as there is plenty to explore nearby, with lots of great walking routes. A ten-minute walk down the road is Harmby Waterfall, an attractive and easy-to-access waterfall located in the small village of Harmby. Small but beautiful. There are more stunning waterfalls close by if this is your thing; make sure you visit Aysgarth Falls or the highest unbroken waterfall at Hardraw Force. Aysgarth Falls have long been one of the most popular tourist attractions in Wensleydale and became even better known in 1991 when the upper and middle falls were featured in the film ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.’
