The cosy living room, with contemporary styling from the furnishings to the statement wallpaper, teamed with comfy seating and an electric fire. It is a relaxed environment for a comfortable evening after a day exploring Richmond or the Yorkshire Dales.

Adjoining the kitchen is an impressive dining room and entertaining space. Take pleasure in the perfect vista, viewed via the large French door that overlooks the garden and across Richmond beyond. In here, we love the interior styling and rich colours on the walls, the Scandinavian style furniture, and the traditional fireplace.

Upstairs are two generously sized bedrooms. The beds are large and comfortable with stunning views from the windows, a perfect setting to drift away and an inspirational view to wake up to in the morning. Both the master and the second bedroom have king-sized zip-and-link beds which can be also split into twin beds. The master bedroom includes a television, for lazy mornings in bed.

The bedrooms share a generously proportioned house bathroom with unrivalled views. This is equipped with a separate shower and a large free-standing bath; a perfect spot for a long soak after a crisp country walk in the Yorkshire Dales.

The garden has been thoughtfully planted with rose bushes and seasonal flowers in the beds around the lawn. There are relaxing deckchairs and a comfy outdoor seating area. Light the fire pit and enjoy some al fresco dining using the BBQ with friends and family, fun in the summer or on a starry evening.

This two-bedroom cottage has everything you could need on a luxury self-catering holiday in North Yorkshire. The modern kitchen includes a fridge freezer, dishwasher, and full kitchen inventory for that home-from-home experience. On arrival, you will find a locally sourced welcome hamper. Also included are high-quality bed linen, towels, luxury toiletries, and a washing machine and drying rack. There is wi-fi throughout the property.

The parking is free and on-street, though we never struggle to get a space. The house is set on the road into Richmond, called Maison Dieu.
