Christmas Market in Richmond Town Centre...

This year the annual Richmond Town Christmas market is being held on Sunday 3rd December. In and around Richmond’s historic market square you will find an eclectic mix of stalls selling local produce, handcrafted goods, food stalls as well as original Christmas gift ideas as well as a full programme of festive entertainment, including the Reeth Brass Band. There are plenty of places to drop in for a hot drink and mince pie after you are shopped out also!

Christmas Panto at Georgian Theatre Royal...‘There’s no place like Richmond’

Click your heels together and transport yourself to the wonderful world of Oz this year!

Over the years, The Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond has built up an enviable reputation for its pantomimes, which are well-known throughout the region for the very best in festive entertainment. We promise star-quality performances, catchy songs, dazzling special effects and oodles of hilarious family-style fun.

This year’s pantomime is based on the much-loved story of Dorothy and her friends the Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Woodman and, of course, Toto the dog. This centuries-old tale has captivated generations and is sure to be a hit with audiences of all ages, from those who remember the original 1939 movie to those who are taking the yellow brick road for the first time.

Winter walks at Fountains Abbey...

Winter is the perfect time to wrap up warm, throw on some wellies and get out on an invigorating winter walk with friends and family to blow away the cobwebs and in North Yorkshire there are walks aplenty to choose from through frosty countryside and blustery coastal paths with stunning views around every turn.

This Christmas why not escape the hustle and bustle of the high street and come and explore the Winter Wonderland at Fountains Abbey with the abbey lit with rainbow colours, live music blaring and a festive fare to enjoy… You can post your letter to father Christmas or if you are lucky enough you can meet him if he is in his grotto!

Get the whole family together and grab a reindeer's explorer map to follow in the hoofsteps of Father Christmas' reindeer and discover amazing places across the estate along the way. It wouldn't be Christmas without family traditions like Carols by Candlelight after a winter wildlife walk, workshop, and festive lunch to enjoy too…

Santas Grotto at Thorp Perrow...

Count down the 12 days of Christmas on a stroll through the Arboretum, until you find yourself at the grotto, nestled deep in the woods. The elves welcome and guide you through the winter wonderland, where you’ll meet a host of wonderful creatures before arriving outside Santa's log cabin home. Inside, you'll meet the donkeys, take a sneak peek into the elves bedroom and look out onto the bustling ski village below.

Festive Fun at Castle Howard...

This Christmas a host of angels will descend on Castle Howard. Inspired by its architecture, interiors and art collections these fabulous creatures, classic and contemporary, will populate the grand state rooms to spectacular effect. Together with glorious floral creations and inspired decorations, Angels on High will surprise and delight.

As well as this unique 'angelic' Christmas experience, visitors will also enjoy their Castle Howard favourites including the soaring Christmas tree in the Great Hall and the return of Bompas & Parr's Gingerbread Castle Howard. Younger visitors will be entranced by the Magical Christmas Garden - a peek into the imaginary world of Father Christmas. And for an even more magical ambience, Twilight Visits over the weekend of 16 and 17 December enable visitors to enjoy the angels, candles and firelight, as night falls.
