For 100 years people have been flocking to Yorkshire for a taste of Bettys. Bettys is not only home to the perfect cup of tea, it is also the place to enjoy fresh coffee, tempting cakes, locally sourced food, and traditional afternoon tea, all served with a warm Yorkshire welcome.

The Heifer, Scorton
Overlooking the village green of Scorton in North Yorkshire, The Heifer brings you a blend of rural Yorkshire hospitality with a modern contemporary feel. A delightful place to dine, with fresh home cooked cuisine sourced from all local produce ranging from light snacks and lunches to a full A la Carte evening menu. We strongly recommend the classic steak and chips from the menu!
The Golden Lion, Osmotherley
Osmotherley village offers three great local pubs, however one of the locals’ favourites is The Golden Lion, offering roaring log fires in the Winter months as well as outdoor seating in the centre of the village green in the summer months. The pub offers fine dining as well as classic Yorkshire food, all locally produced such as Chicken Kiev and Steak Pie, to enjoy alongside a local ale and a friendly chat.
The Bay Horse, Hurworth
An award-winning ‘real old English pub’ with exceptional food, the menu is made up of classic English dishes with quality as its main focus. Locally sourced produce is used wherever possible by the chefs to make the most of seasonal produce, with all bread being baked on site with a different selection every day. Make sure that you check the daily specials board!
The Blue Lion, East Witton
Surrounded by the splendour of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and nestled in the heart of the iconic Wensleydale, this 18th century Inn is welcoming and full of character. Rustique, Richmond
Specialising in high quality rustic French cuisine in a busy, vibrant upbeat Bistro atmosphere, Rustique restaurant offers a large and varied selection of meat and fish dishes cooked traditionally, using local products at a very reasonable price with high-quality service in the Richmond area. We recommend the mussels and frites!
The Little Drummer Boy Cocina, Richmond
One of our top recommendations for couples is The Little Drummer Boy Cocina on Rosemary Lane. Bringing a taste of the Mediterranean to the heart of Richmond. There is both a lunchtime menu for day time bookings and an evening menu, something for everyone. They have a fantastic range of tapas dishes to choose from as well as charcuterie boards. You can come for just a drink, or stay for some food and watch the world go by.
The Abbey Inn, Byland
Nestled amidst the ruins of the majestic Byland Abbey, this charming inn has a new lease of life and is renowned for its ambience and hearty British fare. Steeped in the heritage of North Yorkshire and owned by Tommy Banks, the celebrated chef of The Blackwell Ox, this pub is great to visit whilst exploring Helmsley, Ampleforth and the Moors.
Fine Dining
Black Bull, Moulton
Showcasing the very best in great local produce, including charcoal-cooked steaks and plenty of fish/seafood, three ales and a good choice of wines by the glass, this pub offers great food in a stylish environment. Whether you decide to cosy up by the log fire in the bar or dine in the elegant extension with glass walls and doors leading to the terrace, you will not be let down by the great local food with local and well-trained staff ensuring a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Make sure you leave space for their yummy dessert menu!
The Wensleydale Heifer, Leyburn
Situated in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, The Wensleydale Heifer offers high-quality and award-winning dining. There are two alternative dining experiences, each offering guests a different atmosphere, both with the same great service and fantastic food; The restaurant is an elegant, contemporary dining experience, with its leather chairs, log fires and Doug Hyde artwork or alternatively the fish bar is a less formal environment with seagrass flooring, wooden tables and rattan chairs, perfect for a more relaxed dining experience.
The Star Inn, Harome
Situated in a picturesque village on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, a couple of miles outside the market town of Helmsley, this much loved, Michelin starred Inn has been consistently voted the favourite Northern restaurant by industry professionals and is much loved by foodies and locals alike. The ‘modern Yorkshire’ style of cooking places great emphasis on regional and seasonal ingredients and is firmly rooted in North Yorkshire. Be sure to try the mouth-watering Dark Chocolate and Orange Pudding with Sloe Gin Syrup and Bramble Ripple Ice Cream (if you have any room)!
The Coach House at Middleton Lodge, Middleton Tyas
Set in the stunning grounds of Middleton Lodge, The Coach House is the latest dining venue offering a mouth-watering menu in gorgeous contemporary surroundings. The chef is passionate about all things food, creating beautiful dishes with incredible flavours offering a menu of great local Yorkshire produce along with a variety of cocktails. We recommend the toffee chocolate bar, honeycomb ice cream & pistachio crumb pudding – you can walk it off tomorrow! This is a popular dining spot well located close to our self-catering holiday homes.
Where’s The Smoke, Masham
Open Thursday to Saturday, this relatively new restaurant showcases the art of artisanal smoke-curing throughout every dish on the menu. Using nearly all locally sourced produce, their menu celebrates the rich flavours of smoked delicacies whilst not overwhelming the diner with a smokey flavour. Warm with a rustic ambience and attentive service, this feels like a hidden gem and a very authentic dining experience.
Seaview Restaurant, Saltburn
With wonderful views of the North Sea coastline, this eatery is iconic for its fresh seafood dishes, having been featured on TV programs and in good food guides. With its relaxed atmosphere and attentive service, the Seaview is a beloved haven for locals and visitors. Bookings can be made for evenings only, lunch tables are first come first serve.
Mannion & Co, York and Helmsley
With two locations in North Yorkshire, Mannion & Co is a family-owned gem that serves up exquisite dishes, meticulously crafted from locally sourced ingredients, complemented by an inviting ambience and warm hospitality.
