Discover Richmond

Make sure you take a trip to Richmond in Yorkshire, one of Britain’s most beautiful market towns. Discover its fine historic buildings, riverside walks and many shops centred around a large cobbled marketplace. A wide choice of pubs and cafes nestle between independent boutique shops for a pleasant morning browsing.

We recommend walking along the River Swale to the impressive ruins of Easby Abbey, and then back over the bridge to The Station. This stunning Victorian railway building has a café, award-winning bakery, brewery, and even a two-screen cinema. Towering above Richmond Falls is the 12th Century Richmond Castle, one of the greatest Normal fortresses in Britain. The climb to the top of the tower is worth it for the breathtaking views across the Yorkshire Dales.

Richmond, Yorkshire is within walking distance of many of our luxury holiday homes. If you are staying at Brompton Lakes, wrap up warm and follow the trail through picturesque countryside. And, be sure to check out the Saturday market!
